A Farm Plot is a renewable field of Food. Unlike a berry bush, it does not disappear when it is used up: an empty field is reseeded for Wood and starts again.
Building a farm plot
- Farm plots are not in the main build menu. Select one of your finished Farmers Camps and use its farm button.
- A plot must stand within 24 m of one of your finished Farmers Camps (measured centre to centre). The placement preview shows an invalid site, and the server refuses it before any Wood is taken.
- Cost: 200 Wood, build time 30 s.
- Units can walk across a farm plot; it does not block movement.
The field
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Food in a full field | 400 |
| Farming speed | One work tick (10 Food) about every 7.2 s per farmer |
| Fibre byproduct | 0.2 Fibre per Food |
| Reseed cost | 80 Wood |
- Farm Food is dropped off at a Farmers Camp, Gatherers Camp or Town Hall.
- A field belongs to its owner. Only the owner can send villagers onto it, and no villager starts farming it on its own.
- The plot's look shows how much is left: a ripe crop while more than half remains, a half-cut crop at half or less, and a bare fallow field when it is empty.
Reseeding
When the field is empty it becomes fallow.
- Automatically: a farmer working the field pays the 80 Wood reseed itself and carries on. If you are short of Wood, the farmer stops and you see: "A farm field is empty and there is not enough wood to reseed it."
- By order: sending villagers onto a fallow field pays the reseed first.
Tips
- Farming is slower than picking berries but never runs out, so it is the long-term Food supply.
- Keep Wood in reserve for reseeding: every empty field costs 80 Wood to restart.
