The Dawn of Embers Wiki is a public reference for players and content creators: how the game's mechanics work, and what its units and buildings do and cost. Anyone can help keep it accurate. This page explains how.

The basics

  • Be accurate. Write what the game does, not what you expect or hope it does. If you are not sure, say so, or leave it out.
  • Be neutral. Describe; do not review. What a unit costs belongs here; whether it is worth the price belongs on a forum. Strategy advice is welcome on guide pages, clearly presented as advice.
  • Use the game's own names, spelled as the game spells them (for example Calling, Discipline, Fibre, Town Hall). See the Glossary.
  • Keep it short and plain. Many readers are new to the game, and some read English as a second language.
  • Link the first mention of a game term on a page to its article.

Stats come from the game's data

Unit and building numbers (health, attack, costs, build and training times and so on) are defined in the game's own data tables. The wiki's stat tables are meant to be generated from that data, so that they always match the game.

  • Do not hand-edit a number in a generated stat table. The next update will overwrite it.
  • If a number on the wiki does not match what you see in the game, say so on the talk page, with the game version you played and how you saw the difference.
  • Numbers written in prose, outside the tables, must name the version they were observed in (see below).
  • Do not add numbers you have not seen in the game: no estimates, no rumours, no figures from trailers or screenshots of older builds.

The overview tables on Units and Buildings, and the stat boxes on each unit and building page, are checked against the game's balance data by the wiki's maintainers whenever the balance changes. The overview tables and the stat-box templates are protected so that only administrators can edit them.

Name the game version

Dawn of Embers is in development, and the numbers and rules change between builds. A fact without a version goes stale silently. So:

  • When you add or change a gameplay fact, name the game version you saw it in, for example in your edit summary and next to the fact: (as of version …).
  • When a patch changes something, update the fact and its version together. Do not delete the old value without saying what replaced it; a short "Changed in version …" note helps readers who are on an older build.
  • Pages describing the demo should say so: the demo has limits the full game does not.

Until the game shows a version number on screen, name the build by the date you played it and how you played it, for example (demo, October 2026).

Spoilers

The wiki covers the whole Story campaign, but a reader only sees the story when they choose to.

  • Wrap story content in {{Spoiler}}: mission plots, what happens to characters, endings and revelations. The template hides its contents until the reader opens it. See Template:Spoiler for how to use it.
  • A page's opening summary, and every page about mechanics, units and buildings, stays free of story spoilers.
  • The Campaign page and each mission page put their story sections inside spoiler boxes; the mission's name, number and map are not spoilers.
  • Write only what the game shows. Do not add guesses about what the story has not revealed, or material from unreleased builds.
  • If you are unsure whether something is a spoiler, wrap it.

Sources

Good sources, in order of preference:

  1. The game itself, with the version named.
  2. Official statements: the official site, its dev updates, the ranked rules, the press kit, and the official store pages.
  3. Official posts by the developer on the game's Discord and social channels.

Not sources: guesses, other players' claims you have not checked, files taken from the game ("datamining"), and leaked or private builds.

Images

  • Upload screenshots you took yourself in the game. Say which version and which mode they come from.
  • Keep the interface visible where it helps the reader.
  • Official artwork and images from the press kit may be used on the wiki. Name the source on the file's page.
  • Official game art stays © DTX Studios, all rights reserved. The wiki's CC BY-SA licence covers its text, not the game's art, so tag official images that way and do not re-license them.

What does not belong here

  • Personal information about anyone.
  • Cheats, exploits that harm other players in multiplayer or ranked, and ways around the game's account or ranked rules.
  • Advertising, and links to unofficial downloads.
  • Arguments. Disagreements go on the talk page, and the version-named source wins.

Accounts, moderation and disputes

  • Editing needs a free account. Sign-up asks one question about the game, to keep out spam bots.
  • New accounts can edit pages straight away. Uploading files and moving pages unlock after 4 days and 10 edits.
  • The wiki's administrators, from the development team, watch recent changes, undo vandalism and settle disputes. In a disagreement, the source that names its game version wins.
  • Accounts used for spam or vandalism are blocked.

Page layout

New pages should follow the pattern of existing ones:

  1. A one-paragraph summary at the top.
  2. The details, in sections.
  3. See also links.
  4. The {{Navbox game}} footer and a category.
