The Trade Ship is a naval trading unit built at the Fishing Docks. It earns gold by sailing between its home dock and an ally's Fishing Docks, like a Trade Cart on water, for smaller amounts. It cannot attack.
Trading
- The ship's home is the dock that built it. Order it onto an ally's built Fishing Docks to start a route; the gold is paid on each return home.
- Allies only: a route to your own dock is refused. A route between docks that are not connected by water is refused when ordered.
- Gold per round trip = 0.15 x (distance between the two docks in metres, minus 60), rounded, between 0 and 45. Docks 60 m apart or closer pay nothing; the 45 cap is reached at 360 m.
- Any move order you give the ship ends its route.
- A cargo pile shows on deck while it is on a trade route.
Combat
The Trade Ship has no attack (Attack 0, Range 0). It cannot fight; it relies on other units for protection.
It has 180 hit points and 2 armour. Every hit it takes is reduced by its armour, to a minimum of 1 damage per hit (see Damage types).
Training
- Trained at: Fishing Docks.
- Cost: 50 gold, 100 wood. The cost is paid when the unit is queued. Cancelling a queued or in-progress unit refunds the full cost.
- Train time: 35 seconds. Training-speed bonuses from the owner's Calling and Disciplines shorten it; no unit trains in under 0.5 seconds.
- Population: 1. Training is refused when living units plus everything already queued in all of the player's buildings, plus this unit, would pass the population cap.
- A building holds at most 5 units in its training queue.
Notes
- Ships move only on water, and training is refused when the dock has no navigable water within reach.
